Patient Access

Patient Access – Apps on Google Play

Patient Access means you can…

• Order repeat prescriptions

• Book a GP appointment

• View your medical records

How do I register for Patient Access?

To register for Patient Access you will need to complete a registration form available from the surgery. This includes useful information for anyone wishing to register and your consent. You will also need to bring photographic ID so surgery staff can verify your identity helping us to protect your personal information.

If you are under 16 years old, Stafford and Surrounds CCG advises that the surgery cannot provide Patient Access details due to confidentiality issues.

Access by Proxy

Proxy access means another patient can have access to your online account. The representative can be a parent, relative or carer.

This type of access enables the user to act on behalf of the patient with their access tailored accordingly. The proxy feature has gone through rigorous analysis to ensure there are no data privacy risks. In addition, each proxy access request is verified against strict criteria and assessed case by case.

Is my information secure?

All information held at the surgery using EMIS Access is secure. Your personal details are encrypted and protected using the highest standard of security, so it cannot be intercepted. Only you and your GP surgery are able to see this information. There are also data opt-out options currently being finalised where patients can decide if their data is used for research.

Ordering prescriptions

To make sure you don’t run out of medication, please allow 72 hours for your prescription to be issued when ordering on-line.

Booking appointments

You can book a GP appointment 1-28 days ahead using Patient Access. Please note that appointments at our branch surgeries: Coven & Wheaton Aston should only be booked by patients who live in the catchment area for these surgeries. All patients can book appointments at Brewood Surgery.

You can cancel appointments online but we ask that you cancel as soon as possible so the slot can be offered to another patient. You can also cancel a booked appointment using the appointment reminder text that is sent to you 24 hours before your appointment.

When booking a telephone consultation via Patient Access be be aware the time of the phone call can be subject to clinic running times.  Clinicians aim to make the telephone call at the time of the appointment booked however, on occasion, appointments can run slightly late.  Please do not call to chase the telephone consultation as this has a knock on effect to the telephone lines and may obstruct the clinician attempting to contact you.

Viewing medical records

Patient Access also allows you to view your medical records.

This includes problems, medication, allergies and some clinical letters. The Patient Access platform is also moving towards full access to all medical information held on your record. This will involve consultations, documents and test results. There will be no change to historical access.

The date set for comprehensive Patient Access is November 2022. Further information about full access will be available when the roll out begins.

“Patient Access gives you remote access to your GP, pharmacy and health records. For those going into self-isolation, retaining their access to health services is vital.”
