BMP has an extended team of dedicated practice staff that includes the reception team who are responsible for the front of house in both Brewood and Wheaton Aston surgeries and answering all incoming telephone calls.
Reception
The reception team are overseen by two supervisors who share the daily organisation of the busy department.
All receptionists are trained in Care Navigation. Care Navigation is a system that operates across the majority of GP Surgeries.
As part of the Care Navigation process the telephone team ask pre set questions to find out key information that ensures the patient is directed to the most appropriate service.
Navigation to services can involve recommendation to an optician, dentist, musculoskeletal practitioner, social prescriber, urgent care, sexual health clinic or emergency care.
The team also take details in order to relay vital information to the clinicians at the surgery for triage.
The aim of Care Navigation is to make sure all patients get the most appropriate advice and treatment in the most effective way using all specialist services available.
Administration
In addition to the reception team the secretarial team handles all outgoing and incoming patient referrals and queries associated with third party organisations.
